![]() For those interested in the latest happenings in the fashion world, the past week has been one of keen interest. The start of the Mercedes-Benz New York Fashion week was sadly overshadowed by news of the sudden death of maverick British designer Alexander McQueen. The final day of the New York event was of particular interest to Urbanlife, as it celebrated Black beauty for the third season with the ARISE African Collective Part III autumn/winter 2010/11. One of our favourite global style and culture magazines, ARISE is the first of its kind to focus on African achievement in fashion and the arts. This season, ARISE selected the work of vibrant South African designers Jacques Van Der Watt and Danica Lepen for Black Coffee, Nigerian designer Deola Sagoe and Tanzanian designer Anisa Mpungwe. Press reaction to the collections has been very positive indeed. Watch some of the highlights from the Arise Magazine African Collective III show.
