 Om jag inte hade lidit av en skada i ryggen så skulle jag ha skrivit det här tidigare men så här i efterhand så gav det känslorna tid att lägga sig och det gav mig tid att reflektera över Michael Jacksons bortgång.
När Angelina ringde mig tidigt på fredag morgon och sade åt mig att sätta på tv:n så visste jag att det var ett “vart var du när du hörde”-ögonblick. Jag kommer ihåg vart jag var när jag hörde att Elvis hade dött, Bob Marley, John Lennon och till och med Olof Palme. Mitt hjärta sjönk medan min tv vaknade till liv eftersom jag var rädd att jag skulle hälsas av Obamas ansikte. Jag vet att jag inte är den enda som tänker på honom som en person som en minoritet kan tänkas vilja skada. Istället visade tv:n Michael Jackson.
Jag var chockad. Inte förvånad eller ledsen tror jag, bara chockad. När mina barn tittade på tv:n började jag förklara vem han var och varför hans död en så stor händelse. Medan olika bilder från olika delar av Michael Jacksons liv visades frågade min dotter om och om igen “är det där han, är det där han”?
Jag ville veta varför han hade dött.

 Acting is a liberating process
With his Jamaican roots and the experience of growing of up in a troubled neighborhood in Toronto, actor Michael Miller had no problem relating to the scenes in the film “A winter tale”. On his visit to this year’s CinemAfrica Film Festival he graced Urbanlife with an interview.
In the movie “A winter tale” the 29-year old actor plays the character DX, who is caught up in the dangers that life in the projects offer. A social worker called Gene, played by Peter Williams, tries to keep DX on the right path. But both Gene and DX are forced to deal with the problems of drugs and violence as the aftermath of an innocent boy being shot throws the community in to an explosive state.

En kurs i mingel & nätverkande, kan det verkligen lära mig som frilansjournalist och Andy Collins som redaktör något nytt? Knappast, trodde vi själva, men efter en kväll fylld av skratt, professionella råd och möten med nya människor så blir svaret… våga!

 It was frustration born of repeat rejection that transformed Momodou Jallow into a campaigner against discrimination in Sweden.
''I couldn’t get a job,'' he explained. ''I applied for more than a thousand jobs in Malmo, in Sweden and even in Denmark and I didn’t get a single interview.''
There were no issues with Jallow’s residential or work status. Age was not a factor either. The Gambian-born computer engineer spoke Swedish and English to a high standard and possessed a thorough knowledge of Microsoft systems. He expected his academic success and positve spirit to deliver a good job with career prospects.
