Black afro hair

Black African/urban people are lucky to be born with this gorgeous afro hair. And now, with so many excellent Swedish salons, there is simply no excuse for not looking after your wonderful curls.

If you are a man or woman of color, then your hair care should be focused on improving the natural, inherent qualities of your hair instead of imitating others. Try to avoid bonding or straightening the hair as much as possible as it can damage the shine and texture of your hair. Instead focus on curling or perming it to retain the natural texture you have. Mineral oil has been found to be excellent for the growth of hair as well as improving the condition of the scalp. There are many products to select from in the market. Make sure to deep condition your hair as the sunlight and pollution can wreak havoc on your natural, lustrous locks. If you do not have time during the weekdays, invest time during the weekend to pamper your tresses.

Whether you are of Asian or African or Middle Eastern descent, your hair care is definitely going to be different from your Caucasian counterparts. While most Caucasian men and women have brown, red or blonde hair, we have natural, thick black hair. The Asians tend to have thinner hair and of a black color, while Middle Eastern and Asian people have very thick, lustrous black hair, which is highly prized for making wigs. Afro hair is naturally curly and thick and is not fine. Therefore, your hair care needs to be different depending on your ethnic heritage.

If you are of African descent, make sure to condition and braid your hair regularly to maintain the curly texture. If you are not able to braid it yourself, you can always ask a friend to do it for you! Asian people need to wash and condition their hair often. Since they have a finer texture they need to brush their hair carefully to avoid further damage.

Regular oiling of the scalp is very effective in softening the hair, curtailing dandruff and alleviating skin infections on the head.

Tips and tricks to make your locks stay in shape!

Many African men and women have gone back to straightening their natural Afro hair, simply because they could not manage to keep it in shape. One of the best ways to retain the natural bounce and curl of the characteristic Afro hair, is to braid it regularly. You can visit a salon here in Sweden (search here) to get a regular Afro perm done, if you have already straightened out your hair (what a pity!) You should always condition your hair regularly to keep the bounce and shine in place. If you have seen Gwen Stefani’s music video, you’ll notice that the Asian dancers have Afro hair too!

So, you see, the trend is catching up and even Swedish men and women have begun sporting this hot style!
