U.S. President Barack Obama marked 50 years of independence by 17 sub-Saharan Africa countries at a forum in Washington on Tuesday 4th August 2010. More than 100 young African leaders from civil society and the private sector attended. Together with young Americans and U.S. government officials, the participants shared their insights on key themes of youth empowerment, good governance, and economic opportunity.

Straight Talk Africa (part of Voice of America) is an international call-in talk show hosted by Shaka Ssali and they also attended this event.  In the video below you can see Shaka Ssali and guests as they discuss the Presidential Youth Forum and how members of Africa's next generation are working to build their communities’ and their nations’ futures.

Straight Talk Africa is broadcast live every Wednesday from 1830-1930 UTC/GMT simultaneously on radio, television and the Internet.
