EU Music DaysAs the sun shone down on the roof terrace of Kulturhuset, Stockholm, I relaxed with an ice cold drink and enjoyed a simply electric performance from Sweden’s young Prince of Reggae, Junior Natural, me and about 30 other people. If you didn’t know there was a four day urban music event then you are one of the majority, and you really did miss out. Considering the number of promotional options available to the EU, promotion of this event was practically non-existent.

The EU-music Days are designed to help the promotion of urban music within Europe and discuss the experiences, problems and all other aspects of urban music. The event contained conferences, live shows and the urban film Festival, which we are sure you heard about…

-It’s a shame for the artists’ said an artist manager many have come from far but it’s a beautiful city, and we welcome every opportunity to spread our music and meet new people.

An incredibly talented list of European artists performed such as Anna Reynolds (Germany), Kano (UK) and Danjah (Swe) to name but a few. Click here to see the full list.

Germany's band, Nude, impressed with energy and drive which produced a very pulsating show and there were two other outstanding performances by Lady Dasiey (Germany) and Junior Natural (Swe).

When a demure woman, Lady Dasiey, climbed on stage accompanied by her beatmaker/producer/husband, Batsauce, soul and charisma poured over us. This was super cool music on a hot, hot day. Perfect. We hope to see her back in Sweden soon. Her music is bound to help us warm up our winters too.

14 year old (YES 14!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) Junior Natural treated us to another perfect performance. Homegrown here in Uppsala, Sweden, reggae lovers everywhere probably already know his name. Already crowned Sweden’s Prince of Reggae he performed as natural as his name. Lyrically conscious and vocally smooth this was sweet reggae music. It’s no wonder Shaggy jumped at the chance to work with him and we all wait patiently for the release of his first album “Rising Son”.
NO downloading this one people, you’ll want to buy a piece of history.

You can catch him live at this year’s Uppsala Reggae Festival, we’ll also have a full interview with him and his father later in the year.

The extraordinary Wayne Beethoven Beckford (UK) produced Junior Natural’s first single, ‘This is my story’. Wayne is a legend in the music industry. He’s worked with Robyn, Akon, Seal, UB40, Toni Braxton, T-pain etc. Wayne lives in Sweden but spends a lot of time abroad, producing other artists and working on his own solo career as well.

Check the video to his new song Dynamite below:

As Wayne and I watched Junior perform “This is my story”, Wayne recited how the song had developed with him composing the beats and Junior composing the lyrics. He was as proud as Junior’s father who stood beside him. I was too.

There’s an exciting new generation of talent in Sweden and Europe and the future is looking exciting.

Just don’t miss out!

Andy, thanks for the sweet review!! Promotions were definitely lacking and too bad, because the venue, location and weather was PERFECT for a beautiful rooftop show! But I\'m happy to have connected with some really cool people and hope to be back in Sweden in the near future! Until then... keep it funky!

Peace,
Lady Daisey
