Racist stereotypes used in police training

In an alarming exposure, the Local reports that Swedish Police in Scania, the southern part of Sweden, use the N word to describe persons of colour in their textbooks.

Negro Niggersson and Oskar Negro are two names used by Skåne police in their internal training, it has emerged. Meanwhile the chief prosecutor has ruled that police officers caught using racist language on film have no case to answer.

A feeling that the Police are institutionalised racist can only be enforced with this revelation and confirm what many already thought. Urbanlife.se urges you to be inspired to write to the Swedish Embassy, Rosenbad 4,103 33 Stockholm or in your country (click here for addresses) to protest this kind of racism at State level. It is in violation of all of the human rights conventions, which Sweden has signed, and requires action and comments, even if you do not live in Sweden.

For further information on the fight against racism and discrimination in Sweden, please see the following websites: www.thelundian.com (in English), and www.cmr.nu (in Swedish and English), and www.afrikansksvensk.se (in Swedish but with English information and articles).

PLEASE DO SOMETHING!

One of the most \"civilized \" countries, dishing out peace prizes and accredited to the max in science and technology internationally aand so on. Well too bad that all that \"good\" can+t come to any use to deliver dignity equitibly to all the citizens tax paying or not. No wonder things go upside down in the whole trail of the law shitstem. All the nice talk yet ugly faces when we not looking.

Shame on the establishment.

I regret that these kinds of incidences are not exclusive to Sweden. England, America and many other countries have similar stories but my focus is on how the Government and people react.

As you say Arne ‘the Establishment’ needs to be more proactive and vocal on events like this but then, so must every afro-swede, immigrant and every decent human being. I still can’t help but feel people in general feel a sense of apathy towards things like this. The police should be looking to recruit more ethnic minorities and this is something urbanlife shall be pursuing.
