Anna Reynolds – Konträr

At the recent EU Urban music event I had the pleasure of sharing a rooftop lunch with Anna Reynolds, a multi-talented artist from Germany. Having sadly missed her performance, singer / songwriter / producer, Anna described her music to me as sometimes aggressive, yet still melodic electro sound with accents from punk, '80s new wave and old soul. I was intrigued to hear this petite, urban singer with a cool Afro and on her return to Germany Anna kindly presented Urbanlife.se with the exclusive Swedish premier of her new video: Konträr.

Vocally Anna is sensitive and sensual, while simultaneously gritty, punchy and evocative. I found this song in particular extremely compelling. She’s an exceptionally creative artist, visually and musically.

Born in Ghana, Anna grew up in the Netherlands, She currently lives in Germany, but is also working in London. Anna has always had the desire to be a performing artist. This song "Konträr” is the latest from the album Neobiota Suite I "Konträr" and is the first EP of the Neobiota series. Neobiota Suite II "Bra my way" is also available now.

In the Greek language 'Neobiota', the title of the EP series, means 'neos' new and 'bios' life and refers to alien (exotic) biological species, that colonize a geographic area as a direct or indirect result of human involvement. The fact that her own life is shaped by constantly relocating to new places motivated and inspired Anna to the name of series.

Can songs sung in German break the borders into mainstream urban music?
Perhaps Anna Reynolds is an artist who can make the breakthrough.
