Incase you weren’t aware Ida Ljungqvist (click picture to see full size), was recently named Playboy Playmate of the Year by Hugh Hefner, furthermore, in doing so she also made history by becoming the first African to win this desired prize. And if you haven’t already guessed by her surname, she’s also an Afro-Swede.
26-year-old Ida was born in Tanzania to a Swedish father and a Tanzanian mother. Due to her father's work for UNICEF, Ida traveled considerably as a child in Africa: she has lived in Uganda, Kenya, Ethiopia, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Asia, in Cambodia, Vietnam, Thailand, Europe, in France, the U.K., Sweden, and Denmark, and currently, in the United States, California.
Ida's big break into the glamour model world came when she was discovered in a clothing store in Beverly Hills by 2007 Playmate of the Year Sara Jean Underwood.
However, are we talking beauty and brains?
Well, Ida has a degree in fashion design and marketing, and plans to study economics. She’s also tri-lingual (English, Swedish, and Swahili). We’re sure it won’t be long before she announces her plans to pursue a career in acting too.
