Urbanlife TV at Ubuntu Film Festival

CinemAfrica’s Film Festival Ubuntu started on Wednesday and we took this opportunity to launch Urbanlife TV. We had the pleasure of talking to Kitimbwa Sabuni from the Afro-Swedish Association, Fatima Doubakil from the Muslim Committee for Human Rights and Kudzai Chimbaria from CinemAfrica and we asked them what they thought of the film festival.

Videos are in English but some interviews are in Swedish. Enjoy!

The festival opened with the documentary Victims of Our Riches. The movie is a staggered portrayal of the horrific journey that African migrants take in their quest to get to Spain from Mali. The director, Kal Touré, was one of the guests at the opening and Urbanlife TV had the honor to talk to him with after the screening of his movie.

Urbanlife TV also talked to Keyo Sedenrej, creator of Urban Afrian Movement and the exhibition “Odd one out”. The exhibition shows a number of photos of African and European cities, and the challenge for the spectators is to choose which one of these photos that shows a European city.

Hej,

Heres a copy of a very interesting comment made by blacknese on the UrbanlifeTV channel on youtube that I felt we should show here too and we have the same concerns:

Great work guys. Keep it up. However my concern is that Africans themselves do not show up in great numbers to support just an event.
All those times I have been to similar festivals, the majority has always been the whites which is good but Africans should show more support.
