On Sunday, April 19 at 16:00 Folkets Bio, Malmö will show the Hip Hop film 'La Voix des Sans-Voix' (The Voice of the Voiceless), which is part of the Malmö International Music Film Festival.
Hip Hop may have been born in America, but it has grown up in Africa!
"Fangafrika" is a stylized overview of the festival in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, where Africa's best and brightest rappers gather and Hip Hop trying to tackle the many difficulties that Africans are facing everywhere.
The film is a kind of "who's who" of African Hip Hop - from veterans to Daara J and PBS to promising new artists.
All help to create a dynamic new African identity in the changing genre called Hip Hop.
The film is directed and produced by STAYCALM! - A Paris-based collective made up of DJ's, VJ's, filmmakers, photographers, graphic designers and journalists who all gathered around the aim of highlighting the radical and political black music's many forms in both Paris and in the rest of the world.
"Fangafrika" is a four-year project that highlights the wealth of talented rappers who are in the French-speaking West Africa through a film, music and a book.
